More Than A Pergola

Vergola® is a complete outdoor living system. Engineered in Australia for over 40 years, awarded for its design, and built to outlast everything else on the market. Now custom-built for Dallas homes.

01

89% Natural Light

When fully open, a Vergola® lets in more natural light than any other adjustable louvered roof. Bright when you want it, shaded when you don’t.

02

99.9% Weatherproof

Interlocking aerofoil louvers close into a sealed roof. A smart rain sensor closes them automatically the moment the first drop of rain hits.

03

Cooler Summers, Warmer Winters

Our patented double-skin aerofoil louvers create an insulating air gap that regulates temperature better than any single-skin aluminum system.

04

Total Control Of Light, Shade And Airflow

Adjust your louvers anywhere from fully open to fully closed. Run up to eight bays individually or together, from a remote or your phone.

05

Engineered For Severe Weather

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before booking your free design consultation.

Operation & Control

A Vergola® is a motorised louvred roof system. Precision-engineered aluminium aerofoil blades rotate on a horizontal axis so you can adjust light, shade and airflow from fully open to fully closed. When closed, the interlocking blades create a weatherproof seal. When open, they are virtually invisible overhead, letting in 89% natural light. The system is custom-built to your space and driven by an electric motor — controlled by a remote, a wall switch, or a smart home app.

Yes — Vergola® includes a built-in rain sensor that automatically closes the louvers the moment the first drops of rain fall on the roof. When the rain stops, the louvers can be set to re-open automatically after a delay you choose, or you can open them manually. The system also includes a wind sensor option that closes the roof when wind speed exceeds a set threshold.

Better than most. The double-skin aerofoil design creates an air gap inside each louver blade that acts as a thermal buffer, significantly reducing heat transfer compared to single-skin systems. In the open position, natural airflow is unrestricted — particularly useful for the long Dallas summers. Many clients also add optional LED lighting and side screens to create a fully air-conditioned outdoor room during the hottest months.

Design & Installation

Vergola® can be built to cover almost any outdoor area. Standard bay widths range from 2m to 4m, and multiple bays can be combined side by side or end to end to cover larger areas. Single-span coverage up to about 5m is common; multi-bay configurations can cover much larger areas. Your local specialist will assess your space and design the optimal layout during the free onsite consultation.

Yes — Vergola® is available in both attached and freestanding configurations. Attached versions fix directly to your home’s fascia or structure. A structural assessment is part of the onsite visit to ensure the attachment is correct for your home’s construction type. Freestanding versions stand independently and are a great option when attachment is not practical or desired.

In most Dallas-area jurisdictions, a permit is required for any permanent outdoor structure attached to or near a home. Your Vergola® specialist handles the permit application process as part of the installation. Requirements vary by city and municipality — some areas (like HOA-governed neighborhoods) may also require HOA approval. We navigate this on your behalf and will let you know what is needed for your specific address during the consultation.

For most standard installations, one to two days on site. The fabrication and scheduling process before that takes four to eight weeks from deposit to installation date, depending on the time of year and current production schedule. Your specialist will give you a firm timeline at the quoting stage.

Weather & Durability

Vergola® invented the motorised louvred pergola in 1984 and has been improving it ever since. Key differences: double-skin aerofoil louvers (better insulation than single-skin competitors), 99.9% weatherproof seal (not \”weather resistant\”), patented torsion-free drive system, and engineering tested to Australian wind standards that exceed US codes. Many competitors use similar-looking products with inferior engineering, cheaper aluminium grades, and shorter warranties.

Vergola® louvers are fabricated from heavy-gauge aluminium alloy. They are engineered to handle significant impact loads, and the closed position creates the strongest structural configuration. That said, extreme hail events can damage any aluminium product — we recommend checking with your home insurer about outdoor structure coverage. Our team can advise on the best configuration for your specific location and exposure.

Cost & Value

Vergola® pricing is custom to each project. A typical residential installation in the Dallas area starts from around $20,000 for a smaller single-bay setup and can range to $60,000+ for larger multi-bay configurations with additional features like integrated lighting, side screens, or heaters. The best way to get an accurate price is through the free onsite consultation — you get a fixed-price quote with no hidden costs.

Yes. A quality outdoor living structure consistently ranks among the home improvements with the strongest return on investment. In the Dallas market, where outdoor living is used year-round, a weatherproof motorised roof structure adds both functional living space and genuine property appeal. Many of our clients see the project as adding more in resale value than it costs to install.

Vergola® comes with a comprehensive structural warranty covering the aluminium framework and drive system. The specific warranty terms for your installation will be detailed in your quote. As a premium engineered product, Vergola® is built to last for decades with minimal maintenance — the aluminium is powder-coated for long-term weather resistance and the motor system is designed for tens of thousands of operating cycles.
